First manufactured in 1917, Ford tractors (initially sold under the Fordson name, a contraction of Henry Ford & Son) were, thanks to mass production, the first affordable and reliable machines that allowed small farmers to replace draft animals.
Though manufacture was exclusive to Great Britain by the 1930s, Ford tractors returned stateside with a roar in 1939 with the 9N, which incorporated the hitch system of Irish engineer and inventor Harry Ferguson.
