Carin Ellberg s flowing and hanging figures and objects are articulated in series and variations, where a certain laconic absurdism is formulated through highly personal expression. Ellberg has become known for her interest in everyday life, reflected in her use of domestic, simple materials such as coffee, stockings and clothes in sculptures and paintings. Since 1985 she has also been producing a parallel series of painted self-portraits in three-quarter profile. More recently her work has increasingly opened up to eternal questions such as materiality, the spiritual, and nature. This artist's book is the fruit of many years of work with her archive, from which the artist has chosen images that represent the breadth and depth of her oeuvre in over 200 colour illustrations with texts in both Swedish and English.
